Upfitting and Rigging At GCI Inc.
At GCI Inc., we’ve been upfitting and rigging Class 4 and heavier trucks for the tough demands of first-phase construction since the very beginning. Whether it’s a mobile conveyor system, a dump body, or something custom, we take a chassis and turn it into a reliable workhorse that’s set up right from day one—ready to handle real jobs, day in and day out.
We’ve learned a lot over the years about what works (and what doesn’t) in the field, so every truck we build is built tough, dependable, and straightforward. No gimmicks, just equipment that gets the job done and keeps running.
What Upfitting
Really Means
Upfitting is all about taking a bare truck chassis and making it job-ready. It’s where we add the pieces that matter: installing a dump body for hauling, integrating a slinger body for precise material placement, or bolting on accessories like tarps, toolboxes, or lights. Everything gets set up with safety and efficiency in mind, so the truck performs smoothly right off the lot—no surprises on the jobsite.
What Rigging
Really Means
Rigging is the behind-the-scenes work that ties it all together, making sure the body, equipment, and truck chassis work as one seamless unit. We handle the details so you don’t have to:
Hydraulic setup: Getting the flow, pressure, and performance dialed in just right for smooth operation.
Electrical and controls: Wiring up switches, remotes, safety interlocks, and lighting so everything functions reliably.
PTO and pump matching: Configuring the power take-off and pump to handle your specific workload without strain.
Mounting and reinforcement: Ensuring solid fitment, added strength where it’s needed, and long-term durability under heavy use.
Final checks: Full safety inspections and operational testing before the truck ever leaves our shop.
BUILT TO OUR OWN STANDARDS
We’ve been doing this for decades, drawing on the same hands-on experience that started our slinger revolution. What sets GCI apart is that we don’t just build these trucks, we run them in our own fleet, every day.
That real-world experience shapes how we upfit and rig each unit, because we know exactly what works on the job site, what lasts, and what keeps downtime to a minimum. The result is a truck that’s built with an operator’s mindset: practical, durable, and ready to perform from day one.
